LA MAISON
NAOMI GOODSIR is an Australian designer whose history is grounded in couture millinery. After completing a fashion degree in Sydney, Australia & then apprenticing with a close protege of the iconic Elsa Schiaparelli, Naomi went on to create hats. A milliner for over 10 years, she creates & hand sews unique pieces in the purest tradition of « chapellerie ».
Her millinery has taken her around the world including the English National Opera.
Naomi has collaborated with many acclaimed fashion designers, within Australia & internationally, creating headwear for their catwalk shows & collections.
Beautiful materials either contemporary or vintage, meticulous construction, craftsmanship with well balanced proportions are the key elements which represent the values « de la maison ». Bespoke hats are moulded, cut & stitched by hand « dans les regles de l’Art ».
In 2008 Naomi began to express her creativity through a signature range of handbags & body accoutrements for women & men who seek a discerning alternative offer.
Her artistic & original approach is the genesis of an arresting signature style using beautiful leather & exotic skins selected from leading tanneries.
Naomi sources artisans from Australia, France & Europe with priority given to the quality of execution & origin, thereby contributing to the preservation of ancestral know-how. Hats, bags & body accoutrements - in limited production & editions, as well as made to measure, are cut & sewn in France either by Naomi herself or by craftsmen recognised for their partnerships with the most prestigious French houses of maroquinerie & Haute-Couture.
